William Pierce

  • William Pierce was born in 1740 and was born in Georgia.
  • He was raised in Virginia and was a soldier and a merchant.
  • William was 47 at the convention.
  • Pierce's prior political experiance was that he was the Lower House of Georgia State Legislature in 1786 and he was elected to Confederation Congress 1787.
  • Some of his Convention Contributions were that he attended May 31st to June 30th, with the exception of one seek absence in mid-June. He lofe on July 2nd to represent Georgia in the Confederation Congress and never returned. He is best known for his character sketches of the delegates at the Convention, since Pierce left on July 2nd these sketches are prior to the Conneticut Compromise and the subsequent conversation on the committee of detail report.
  • William Pierce stated that "My own character I shall not attempt to draw, but leave those who may choose to speculate on it, to consider it in any light that thier fancy or imagination may depoit."
  • Pierce also acted as an aide-de-camp during the Revolutionary War.
